Industrial Engineering internship: product performance and optimal planning mechanisms

ASML

Introduction

The Planning & Delivery (P&D) sector unites all planning activities across ASML. Its mission is to collaborate closely with business lines and other sectors to translate requirements and priorities into an integrated business plan. By maintaining transparency on bottlenecks and real constraints, P&D ensures that planning remains both ambitious and realistic. This approach positions P&D as an unbiased, trusted partner that strengthens ASML’s ability to balance ambition with feasibility, while enhancing our collective capacity to drive improvements.

Your Assignment

Within P&D, we offer two internship opportunities in the Integral Product Planning team for DUV Upgrade Field and Relocations.

Assignment 1: Product Performance Analysis.

Our team manages the integral plan for a large portfolio of products, organized into several categories. The goal of this internship is to determine how to best describe product performance using a comprehensive set of KPIs that reflect the scope of our planning activities. You will conduct a deep dive into product performance through interviews with stakeholders and data analysis. Based on these insights, you will propose a tailored set of KPIs for each product category and design the underlying data structure required for reporting. The expectation is that you also provide recommendations for implementation. The deliverable is a performance dashboard that includes KPI definitions, setup, and visualization, along with a target-setting proposal. Ideally, this dashboard will serve as a blueprint for other teams beyond ours.

Assignment 2: Optimal Planning Mechanisms for Routine Upgrades.

Our team is responsible for ensuring that product upgrades are planned and executed efficiently, balancing demand signals with available resources. This internship focuses on improving planning methodologies for routine and major upgrades. You will start by understanding and analyzing demand drivers - when demand becomes visible, how volatile it is, and how certain it is. Afterwards, you will evaluate how current planning mechanisms align with these demand behaviors and patterns. You will need to check whether we are meeting our demands with adequate supply and capabilities. The goal is to develop a tailored approach that addresses demand behavior and optimizes resource allocation. The deliverable is a planning methodology with recommendations on how to decouple, buffer, and optimize our scarce planning resources.

These are Bachelor/Master internships for 6 to 8 months, working 4-5 days per week (2-3 days onsite). They can also be suitable for a thesis. The start date is as soon as possible, or around February 2026.

Please provide a motivation for one of the assignments in your cover letter.
