Process Engineer Internship Job, Portland, OR

Arclin USA LLC is currently looking for a Process Engineering Intern for our Portland, OR location. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role will assist existing Process Engineers with daily duties, while gaining valuable insight into on-the-job responsibilities. This may contain, but is not limited to evaluating, and improve the manufacturing methods utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, chemicals, and production equipment capabilities, works closely with Process Engineering, Automation, Operations, Quality and EHS functions to ensure all aspects of change management are executed, and maintain all quality control standards. Duration of internship will be 11 – 16 weeks.

Process Engineer Internship Responsibilities:

  • Project – Primary Responsibility
    • Complete assigned projects (2-4) using Lean Six Sigma methodology. Training will be provided on LSS methodology.
    • Present on primary project in last month of internship. Primary project will be scoped so that it completable within internship timeframe.
  • Other Tasks as assigned including, but not limited to:
    • Utilize OSHA PSM code requirements/recommendations to maintain safety compliance
    • Help to maintain a database of PSM Mechanical Integrity information to plan inspection and testing for various capital assets
    • Learn about and help to maintain the PSM Management of Change (MOC) program to safely record, implement, and communicate process changes
    • Help to supervise contract work, repairs, and improvements to the site
    • Work alongside Process Engineers & Quality Manager to help maintain consistent quality control for plant production processes
    • Running quality tests in the QC Lab
    • Work with Maintenance Personnel to assist in plant outage work, replacing parts, and preventative maintenance
    • Learn the plant piping and equipment and recognizing it on Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams to edit, update, and validate drawings (AutoCAD)
    • Properly labeling equipment and piping throughout the facility as needed

Process Engineer Internship Job Qualifications:

  • Working to complete Bachelors’ degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Ideally a student with 1 – 2 years remaining.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Driven & eager to learn
  • Computer Application Skills
    • Microsoft: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, PowerBI
    • ParcView (or similar trend software)
