For decades, ASML’s machine designs have prioritized time to market, focusing primarily on rapid development and core functionality. However, as the market evolves and production volumes increase, there is a growing need to shift our design approach. Today, we must also emphasize serviceability, cost efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
The MCONS group (FC033), part of Development & Engineering, is responsible for several mechanical systems within our DUV (Deep Ultraviolet) machines, most notably, the outer covering. To meet these new demands, we are re-evaluating our design strategy. While several short-term programs are already underway, we are also looking ahead. We want to define a long-term vision, a "dot on the horizon", to guide our future development.
You will conduct a concept study for the outer covering of ASML's XT and NXT machine types, imagining what the design could look like if we were to start from scratch. This yields investigation of the main requirements, defining concepts, ranking them and elaborate the highest potential.
