ST R&D supports leading edge system companies with broad range applications by providing complete design platforms and production capabilities for high end SoC / ASIC using the most advanced technologies nodes. In this complex context, ST is looking for new talents starting from students in electronic engineering willing to engage in a master-degree thesis.

Thesis subject: AI-Aided Digital Physical Design Flow for Minimum Power

Outline of the thesis activities:

  • Learning Phase:
    • Deep Dive: Immerse yourself in the foundational aspects of digital physical design flow.
    • Power Analysis: Investigate the power-centric impacts throughout various phases of physical implementation.
    • AI Exploration: Discover AI-based optimization techniques and their applications.
  • Core Phase:
    • Real-World Application: Engage in practical work on a genuine design project.
    • Design Execution: Carry out the place and route flow from floorplanning to final signoff.
    • AI Integration: Select and analyze design options aided by AI.
    • Power Analysis: Conduct detailed analyses to optimize power consumption.
  • Wrap-up and Conclusions:
    • Results Consolidation: Compile and synthesize the results obtained.
    • Documentation: Prepare the thesis and related documents for submission.
    • Knowledge Sharing: Share insights and findings with the R&D team.

Duration of the activities: 8 - 10 months

Pre-requisites:

  • Educational Background: Candidates should have a bachelor's degree and be close to completing a master's degree in electronic engineering.
  • Knowledge Requirements:
    • Basic understanding of digital and physical design flows.
    • Basic power analysis skills.
    • Proficiency in TCL scripting.
    • Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems.
    • Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential.
