Description

  • Our Technology and Enablement partner is bringing on multiple Data Center Technicians to support a multi-billion dollar investment to expand networking services in the Midwest. Candidates have the opportunity to be part of an enterprise level, network team operation. Data Center Technicians will support physical and virtual infrastructure within a commercial data center. The primary duty for Data Center Technicians will be to support server rack, power-up operations.

Duties

  • Support server rack, power-up operations at multiple sites.
  • Ensure safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
  • Prepare stage, set up, and perform startups and shutdowns (e.g., racks, hard drives, switches).
  • Follow specific instructions, checklists, guides, standard protocols, and emails.
  • Set up equipment properly according to safety protocols, deployment standards, and planned Network Design Tasks (NDTs).
  • Perform post-execution quality checks and verify grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling.
  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures.
  • Quickly identify the cause(s) of issues, and replace faulty components.
  • Decommission hardware for simple changes and refresh (e.g., memory upgrades, OS rebuilds) following standard procedures with minimal guidance.
  • Follow procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate Datacenter Technician Leads.

Additional

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
  • Basic understanding of how to use Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Flexibility to work non-standard business hours that may include weekends and/or holidays.
  • Previous data center, cabling, IT, electrical, wiring, mechanical, or engineering experience a plus.

  • Work schedule changes depending on specific site needs to include nights and weekends
  • Shifts can be up to 12-hours and rotate on a predefined schedule
  • Data Center Technicians will support more than one location/site
  • Job sites have uneven terrain
  • Must maintain balance and perform construction tasks while on a ladder
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and participate in group lifts

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
