Job Description Summary
Materials Application Engineer (MAE) intern will support the analysis of hardware by performing different activities related to aviation engines engineering projects, addressing the solution to different material requests, and guiding internal customers on different processes used on aviation industry for manufacturing and field support by collaborating with MAE´s staff. At the same time, the intern may conduct torque tension laboratory activities for specific hardware responsibility by collaborating with MAE´s staff, as needed.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Execute with guidance, the analysis, test and/or integration related to assigned projects on materials discipline that meet business standards, practices, and procedures, and as well meeting the product/program requirements.
- Under guidance, support manufacturing and field questions from design function and elaborate technical responses to internal customer inquiries, being responsible for specific assigned hardware.
- Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures, Engineering Standards, Design Customer Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements.
- Develop with guidance, technical capabilities concurrent with the execution of the position’s responsibilities as pertaining to materials related projects.
- Under guidance, support Document technical data generated to substantiate the assigned components, assemblies and / or systems consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Develop skills to Monitor and communicate project status internally (MAEs staff), issues and significant developments as pertaining to assigned projects.
- Propose solution to identified problems and execute with guidance.
- Under guidance apply engineering skills to the solution of assigned projects and demonstrate understanding of technical challenges in materials related field.
- Understand and communicate effectively with internal customers and team.
- Learn and develop technical capabilities to Operate diverse laboratory equipment but are not limited to EDM, 3D Scanning (Blue Light), Digital/Optical Microscopy, Tomography, Micro-Vickers Hardness, and others as determined by the work scope of the project.
Required Qualifications
- Student in 6th semester of a Bachelor’s Degree in Materials, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or associated experience with materials science and laboratory activities if from other career.
- Effective written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish. English Skills: Must be able to maintain a normal day-to-day fluid conversation on any topic with few mistakes (mistakes that will not affect getting the message through). Must have fluency and rhythm and sufficient self-confidence in the language to be able to have a technical conversation.
- Presentation Skills: Ability to communicate with peers and across functions
