Position Summary
The Cath/EP Tech Intern assist in caring for patients throughout the perioperative phase of care under the direct supervision of a Cath/EP Lab Tech Specialist including performing invasive cardiology procedures in the Cath and EP labs, including scrub, circulate, and record while maintaining asepsis and safety in compliance with standards of care. Effectively interacts with patients, families, and physicians while maintaining professional practice and ensuring compliance with current regulatory requirements.
The Cath/EP Tech Intern may perform other duties as assigned.
Completed at least the first 3 semester of an accredited CVT program

Standard Work: EP/Cath Lab Technologist Intern
- Actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives.
- Demonstrates accurate documentation of patient information during the entire perioperative phase of care according to documentation standards.
- Communicates effectively with the physician, members of the multidisciplinary team, patient and family members.
- Maintains patient comfort, confidentiality and privacy; adheres to HIPAA standards.
- Ability to perform various duties within the Cath and EP lab under the direct supervision of a Cath/EP Lab Tech Specialist; including Circulate, Record, Pan, and Scrub, to assistance the Cardiologist and/or Electrophysiologists during Cath and EP procedures including diagnostic Cardiac Catheterizations, peripheral procedures, and simple cardiac device implants.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Cath and EP lab procedures; including indications, hemodynamic monitoring, and related anatomy.
- Restock supplies, maintain clean work area; file room work, reception duties, computer use as required.
Competencies & Skills
Essential:
- Stock lab with equipment
- Assist in room turn overs
- Assist in patient interviews
- In the Cath and EP labs, including scrub, circulate, and record, under the direct supervision of a Cath/EP Lab Tech Specialist.
- The Cath/EP Tech Intern may perform other duties as assigned
- BLS
- Competency in EKG Interpretation
