Physics Internship: Overlay analysis tooling development

ASML

Introduction

The Applications and Business Support (ABS) department is within the Customer Support and it supports optimizing our machines in a way that is tailored to our customers’ production process and end applications. This includes supporting new product introduction projects, running performance improvement projects and providing escalation support. To enable ABS to efficiently analyze customer data, a diagnostics program has been set up with the aim to reduce the time-to-diagnose. One initiative in this diagnostics program is the creation of AnalyticsLab: a tool running on KNIME business hub that enables domain experts to build workflows and GUI interfaces, while users world-wide can access and run the workflows via the GUI interface. A method is used to separate customers’ on-product overlay data into different buckets to identify areas with improvement opportunities. This analysis functionality is currently implemented in an in-house standalone tool called ORCA, with the major downside that the code is fixed and can therefore not be adapted to the exact user needs on a case-to-case basis. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to deliver a tool that will be able to perform a full evaluation of on-product scanner performance in AnalyticsLab.

You will focus on the following key responsibilities:

  • Separate ORCA MATLAB code and GUI into functional blocks;
  • Transfer functional code blocks into KNIME modules and create an analysis flow that matches ORCA;
