Program Manager II

Location: New Orleans, LA

Summary

The Program Manager designs, implements, evaluates, and coordinators operational facets of university-wide faculty development initiatives; conduct of program activities relating to the NIH-sponsored BIRWCH career development program. The Program Manager engages in full-cycle planning, budget management, and implementation of faculty development workshops/events of all scales; liaising with internal faculty development committees; assessing program success; website development and edits. This person will also be instrumental in implementing the strategic plan goals for faculty development s well as other new, highly visible programs. This position will interact with a wide range of both internal and external stakeholders at every level. It is expected that the Program Manager has a genuine appreciation for the understanding of the complexities of the faculty development program and the institution. The Program Manager conducts program research and ensures that the preparation of mandatory operational, statistical, and financial reports are accurate and factual; identifies best practices and strategies for enhancing faculty development and scholarly activity; and development and maintenance of effective communication venues to include but not limited to the website and newsletter.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Clear and competent verbal communication. 
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Deadline and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work well with a variety of investigators, and staff.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and to work independently in a high pressure environment.

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Master's degree from an accredited four-year institution OR a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year institution plus 2 years' experience.
  • Monitoring and evaluation experience.
  • Experience in the academic setting is strongly preferred. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in presentation, spreadsheet and database software required (i.e., Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Access)

Compensation Information

This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 25.
