Job Description

Summary

Mechanical Engineer (ME) takes ownership of developing speaker assembly, plastic enclosure assembly, mechanical components which are used for Bose premium sound system in vehicle.

High quality, cost effective and meet delivery due date are keys for successful development. To accomplish the goal, ME should have good capability and knowledge about mechanical component design, manufacturing and project management. ME also needs to have excellent communication skills to collaborate with customer, suppliers and Bose internal team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and understand product specification of speaker and enclosure assembly. Make clear customer’s requirement, and take into product specification. Negociate with customer if we need to deviate.
  • Create and maintain speaker/assembly development schedule and action items, and shared with project team members. Follow Bose development process, and organize design documents into project folder.
  • Create 3D CAD model in concept stage for vehicle layout study.
  • Ask CAD operator to create/update CAD documents or do it by myself.
  • Frequent communication with Bose Customer Engineer(Resident Enginner) to get feedback and confirm updated 3D CAD model.
  • Mature design by implementing variety of review results and feedbacks such as vehicle layout, tolerance analysis, speaker reliability testing, lessons and learned, DFMEA, risk assessment, structural strength, manufacuability, tooling structure, packaging etc.
  • Create technical documents and ANPQP documents which are required from customer. Attend customer design review meeting as project manager of assigned components.
  • Review supplier documents, 3D CAD model, 2D drawing, technical documents and give feedback in appropriate timing.
  • Conduct Bose internal design review meeting. Complete required documents before design review. Follow action items which are come up with the DR.
  • Reliese production design – 3D CAD model, 2D drawing, BOMs
  • Attend build event to verify intension of design is implemented into manufacturing process. Check if all dimensions are met with 2D drawing. Measure if all acoustical performances are within specification. Review manufacturing process capability. Work with Bose manufacturing engineer (in-house speaker) and/or supplier (OEM speaker) and follow to complete all open items for manufacturing.
  • Work with Bose DQE(Design Quality Engineering, in Tijuana Mexico) to make validation test proposal and getting customer’s approval.
  • Review test reports made by DQE and submit to customer.
  • Conduct pre-delivery inspection for speaker proto samples before ship to customer.
  • Attend mechanical fit check event to verify if there are no problem about placement/mounting of speaker in actual vechile.
  • Resolve issues quickly by taking appropriate actions and process. Conduct 8D process if it’s required.
  • Support Change Management team if there are any production components which are affected in your speaker/assembly.
  • Capture new speaker technologies from Bose US team (Product Portfolio Management team and/or advanced development team) which will be introduced to customer.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master degree of mechanical engineering required.
  • Experience in the mechanical products development required.
  • Experience in speaker design/manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience in automotive engineering preferred.
  • Experience of 3D CAD operation required. NX and/or CATIA is preferred.
  • Experience in operation of Microsoft Excel/Word (Power Point) required.
