GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: Summarize the nature and level of work performed.
The Functional genetics lab utilizes in vitro and in vivo models to evaluate the function of genetic variants associated with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The TRAI will be an active participant in experimental research and will have the opportunity to present his/her lab work. He/she will He/she will work independently, and perform non-routine, highly specializied experiments. Also participate in the modification of research protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS: (MUST be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of the job.)
1) BS or BA required; preferred in Biological Science.
2) Experience with molecular cloning, PCR, cell culture and transfection is desirable.
3) Experience with reporter assay and RNAi delivery is desirable.
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: (MUST be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of the job.)
1) Ability to pay attention to details and to be precise. Sound analytical and organizational skills.
2) Excellent written and verbal communication skills, must be able to thoroughly document experiments, protocols, and data. Must be able to logically structure tasks and set priorities.
