The Senior Director, U.S. Marketing is responsible for go-to market initiatives and demand generation in the key market segments of the U.S. region. This role will drive thought leadership, customer engagement and advocacy, while leading targeted field initiatives like Account-Based-Marketing in strong partnership with the Commercial organization.

This position is part of the Americas Marketing Organization and will be located preferably in Santa Clara, California. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead a Team of Marketing Managers: motivate, attract, retain, and develop talent to deliver excellence and continuous improvement by fostering a strong DBS culture.
  • Set Long and Short-Term Plans: develop the Strategic Plan focusing on commercial growth drivers, through cross-functional collaboration and influencing; Build the Annual Marketing Plan, including product launches, lifecycle management, sales enablement, to drive market share growth. Drive on-market product short term demand forecast.
  • Collaborate with Sales Leadership to co-develop and execute strategic priorities: drive focus and alignment between sales and marketing in achieving business objectives by segment and with the distribution channel; provide meaningful and actionable competitive and market insights; support commercial execution by building tools, programs, and training content.
  • Drive thought leadership, key persona engagement and demand generation for increased market penetration and revenue growth in the targeted segments, building awareness and demonstrating the value of Cepheid’s portfolio through contact mapping, multichannel campaigns, events, and programs.
  • Lead targeting strategy and execution: develop and deploy targeted campaigns by persona, segment and stages of customer journey, reinforcing Cepheid’s brand promise and value. Identify customer needs and existing and potential channels to expand thought leadership, awareness, engagement, demand generation for on-market products and solutions; implement targeted account-based marketing strategies within prioritized health systems to increase menu adoption and utilization.
  • Drive Market Shaping strategy and execution by coordinating priorities and initiatives to increase market presence in collaboration with Market Access, Medical Affairs, Health Economics and Outcome Research, Product Management.
  • Achieve Business Objectives: Manage and participate in setting and controlling marketing forecasts, budget, and key performance indicators (KPI), as well as actively participate in Growth Rooms and Marketing Daily Management for Transformative Marketing and Marketing-Influenced initiatives. Monitor, track, and analyze the performance and R.O.I. of marketing activities, campaigns, and programs; maximize marketing contribution by dynamically managing budget and resources. Drive monthly short-term demand forecast for on-market products.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field with 14+ years of related work experience OR Master’s/Doctoral degree in the field with 12+ years of related work experience, AND minimum 4 years of people leader experience
  • Sales or Marketing experience in Medical Device Industry
  • Proficiency in Marketing & Strategic business planning, as well as experience in product launches and product lifecycle management
  • Proficiency in understanding financial metrics and pricing
  • Communicates effectively with excellent presentation skills; able to multi-task across a broad number of products/disease states
  • Ability to solve complex problems, takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
  • Ability to lead and motivate others; capability to work cross-functionally to drive results

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience In Vitro diagnostics/molecular testing is preferred, and/or experience in Molecular Biology, and the relevant post-graduate qualification would be an advantage
  • Financial and business acumen
  • Requires 40% travel

The salary range for this role is $132,300 - $306,000, depending on location. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
