In the Field Application Specialist - Bioreactor role, you will be responsible for offering product expertise, application knowledge and technical support along each step of customer's process.

Sartorius has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, self-motivated professional to support our customers and Sales organization in the Bay Area for our Cell Culture Technologies portfolio. In this remote position, the individual will play a key role in supporting our customers and internal teams by offering product expertise, upstream applications knowledge, and technical support.

The main mission is for successful application, implementation, qualification, and use of Sartorius’ upstream products by supporting the Sales process with product positioning, presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations.

The main missions are to ensure successful design, validation and implementation of our products, by supporting sales for product design, product positioning and demonstration, and supporting customers for application development work, initial startups and training.

The Field Application Specialist position is based out of the home office which is to be located near the Bay Area to assist in supporting business local to NorCal and on occasion, other sites on the West Coast as needed.

What you will accomplish together with us

  • You will support the Sales organization with customer discussions on existing products through product presentations, demonstrations, trials, application studies/demos as well as troubleshooting and cGMP manufacturing support for the Cell Culture Technologies portfolio which consists mainly of the Ambr line, rocking motion bioreactors, and STR bioreactors at all scales.
  • You will provide technical qualification of sales opportunities to ensure appropriate positioning of technology within the customer application.
  • One of your tasks will be to support sales in the customer process, URS analysis & technical response, and lead customer evaluations to help position products in line with the application requirements.
  • Strategize with assigned Account Managers to generate value-adding activities according to customer and business need.
  • Support the development of strong relationships with accounts within the assigned sales territory.
  • Support new products through close collaboration with beta site testing, product demonstrations/discussions and information gathering.
  • One of your duties will be to assist the Company by occasionally supporting the training of other Field Application Specialists and the Sales organization on assigned technologies and/or processes.
  • You will ensure training of customers on new technologies and support initial start-up operations as well as ensure/assist in internal training opportunities for self and colleagues.
  • One of your tasks will be to support regional marketing initiatives.
  • In the event of an issue, you will support the Quality Department in the quality complaint process by troubleshooting and analyzing customers processes for better investigation and resolution.
  • Report on competitor product implementation & presence within the territory by feedback to the Application Services and Product Management Team
  • On a monthly basis, you will report on territory activity for management.
  • In this role, occasional overnight travel will be required to support customers / sales, to attend organizational meetings and trainings will be required (~35%). This travel requirement is subject to change based on customer and internal business need such as customer support and internal meetings and trainings.

What will convince us

  • You have completed a Bachelors degree Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field. Completion of Masters degree preferred.
  • You have a minimum of 3 years biopharmaceutical industry experience within upstream cell culture development or process development; MSAT, cGMP Manufacturing and/or Tech Transfer experience a plus.
  • You possess knowledge of biopharmaceutical industry including biologics, viral, or cell therapy process development with scale up for relevant modalities highly encouraged.
  • You are proficient with MS Office software, including Outlook, Word and Excel and Powerpoint.
  • You possess the ability to lift up to 50lbs safely due to the requirement to handle equipment.

Base salary offered for the position is $85,000.00 - $130,000.00 depending on experience. (Higher starting salaries may be available in other locations based on geographic differentials.)
