The IT Network Systems Engineer provides regular design, build, management, and elevated support of network resources in support of critical business technologies. The position is an escalation point for all network-related help desk and support issues and requires mentorship and collaborative work practices. The position is considered a senior-level operational support and implementation within the IT organization. (Design, Procure, Build, Support, Decommission)

Key areas of focus and responsibility are Layer 3 and Layer 2 networking knowledge and experience, Firewall and network security administration, wireless network design and implementation, Site to Site VPN and Client VPN technology support, Azure networking experience is a must. Implementation and support of circuits and vendor relationship management is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Implement firewall technology concepts and practical applications. 
  • Manage access control lists, web filtering, remote connectivity (VPN), and security modeling.
  • Resolve Azure networking tickets in both Layer 2 and Layer 3 scenarios, providing Azure provisioning and support.
  • Modify and correct internet connectivity, installation, and configuration of new circuits.
  • Coordinate vendor support plans and services.
  • Manage layer 2 switching and wireless technologies (Meraki/Fortinet) with a thorough understanding of Layer 3 technologies and methodologies. 
  • VPN Tunneling and client connectivity with Public DNS administration.
  • Lead wireless implementation in areas such as heat mapping, installation, and administration
  • Performance tuning and security administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). 
  • Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs.

Job Details

  • This role is Hybrid with 2-3 days in office per week.
  • The position will require regular local travel between two worksites in the same area (Preston Ridge, Northmeadow) as required or directed.
  • Regular on-call rotation and after-hours emergency support
