Title: Industrial Designer (China)

Description:

The Industrial Designer is responsible for creating industrial design output assisting acquisition or on-going program. He/she is the primary or secondary contact with customer styling organization understanding the styling theme and execution. He/She provides direction to Faurecia Engineering on styling matters.

General Main Duties/Activities:

• Provides customer with automotive interior/exterior industrial design proposals;
• Follow projects from beginning to end by providing appropriate design themes that convey the trends of automotive design
• Develop design 2D proposals to 3D, finish 2D to 3D translation
• Interfaces with customer styling staff for automotive interior style definition;
• Supports presentation to customers as required;
• Works with production engineers to ensure functional process feasibility of proposed design;
• Operates within approved economic targets;
• Create sketches as per customer need or internal need;
• Participate to the A surface convergence by proposing improvement for process feasibility, Perceived Quality, design,…
• Lead A Surface activities done in FTCI;
• Participate to customer meeting to represent Faurecia Industrial design team;
• Participate on request to benchmark analysis and local market study;

Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, or comparable art/design degree with actual industrial design field experience;
• Experience in interior and/or exterior styling in the automotive industry is essential;
• Experience in color & trim design in addition to styling is a plus;
• Team player;
• Strong problem-solving skills;
• Strong verbal and written communication/presentation skills, in both Chinese and English;
• Good taste in form, color and material. Strong attention to detail while grasping the big picture;
• Strong sketching and rendering skill is essential;
• Skills in design-related software: Strong Photoshop skill is essential, Alias is a significant plus, photo-real soft- or hard-ware rendering is a plus, video editing software is a plus;
• Good knowledge and great passion for automobiles and/or other transportation products (aeronautical, marine, etc), as well as general art/design related topics. Understanding of local and international automobile markets;
• Knowledge of ergonomic topics within an automotive products;
• Knowledge of primary manufacturing methods utilized by the automotive industry;
• Knowledge of engineering topics is a plus;
• Knowledge of governmental regulations regarding automotive products in different markets is a plus;
• Ability to work under tight time constraints and handle multiple projects;
• International mind set;
