Additionally, our Technology Center for Hemostasis and Blood Gas Reagents is in Orangeburg, NY, and our Technology Center for Whole Blood Hemostasis is in San Diego, CA.

Overview

Werfen’s San Diego Internship Program is a 10-week, full-time, paid assignment that takes place over the course of the summer and is open to undergraduate students who are currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university. 

The Internship program has been designed to allow students to learn through hands on experience, providing an opportunity to blend textbook knowledge with practical experience. Students will contribute to the development of new or improved medical diagnostic tests and will be given the opportunity to work cross functionally with other departments to maximize their learning opportunities.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Develops software written in C/C++ for medical devices.
  • Develop software tools as needed in Python or other scripting languages.
  • Performs Unit and Integration testing activities.
  • Assists in the creation of software deliverables such as requirements and design. documentation, software code, and unit and integration test plans and procedures.
  • Ensure and maintain compliance with the Company’s quality system through training and adherence to policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Networking/Key relationships

  • Develop relationships and work alongside R&D team members.
  • Interact with peers within the summer intern cohort.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or graduate degree program with a minimum GPA of 2.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Knowledge of C++ is required.
  • Knowledge of basic data structures (e.g stack, queue, linked list) is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Knowledge of embedded and multithreaded programming is required.
  • Understanding of design methods (e.g. OOD, UML) is required.
  • Understanding of Agile software development life cycle is required.
  • Knowledge of analog/digital electrical design principles desired.

  • No travel needed.
