  • Current student at Franklin County Technical School and eligible for the Co-Op rotation
  • CPR certified.
  • Consistently positive performance appraisals in key areas of function and interpersonal skills.

The Baystate Health (BH) Co-Op Intern position is a short term, employee position designed to hire vocational students (Massachusetts Chapter 74 programs) into a cooperative education experience within Baystate Health. This position may be used to hire students into clinical or non-clinical positions. The intent of the position is to provide the students with a work experience that will further their vocational training, and build on their employability skills, and provide hands on, on the job training. For BH, these positions will allow a department to build pipelines for specific jobs. Interns will be provided outlines and expectations created by each department/ unit that agrees to host a coop student.

  • Meets the criteria for participation in cooperative education outlined by their vocational school.
  • Completes an application for the position and interviews with the host site at BH and any other required job criteria such as mandatory e-learning modules.
  • Studies a trade aligned with the cooperative education experience available at Baystate Health.
  • Learns to execute tasks assigned by supervisor and follows internship expectation lists or competency-based orientation as assigned.
  • Obtain the requirements for any additional needed training or certification for the outline job description designated by the BH Host Unit (for example- BLS/ CPR, CNA, etc.)
  • Practices excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to work effectively in a team environment including communication skills and reliability. 
  • Follows schedules that was agreed upon by the BH host, vocational program and the BSEP Co-op intern. If a situation arises where the schedule cannot be met, Initiates appropriate communication as necessary.
  • Represents Baystate Health in a positive and professional demeanor at all times.

Minimally Required Education:

Completed junior year of their vocational training.

Minimally Required Experience:

Maintain vocational school enrollment criteria.

Skills:

The ability to work with a diverse population, staff and community members using tact, courtesy and diplomacy. The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion, as appropriate. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
