POSITION TITLE: Summer Intern - Payroll

POSITION SUMMARY: 

An internship opportunity is available in our Payroll group at Scripps Research. The Payroll Intern provides administrative support to the payroll team and assists with special projects to support continuous improvement initiatives. This is a temporary paid position for a maximum of 90 days and is subject to minimum wage and overtime laws. Students can work up to 40 hours a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. TEAM AND CROSS-FUNCTIONAL PROJECTS

  • Work across various systems and platforms to contribute to different stages of the recruitment, payroll, and benefits processes.
  • Collaborate in payroll-related tasks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review and update process documentation.
  • Assist with special projects.

2. INSTITUTE ANALYSIS SUPPORT

The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics: 

  • Demonstrated personal, professional and educational achievement
  • Experience with spreadsheets (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and apply initiative and creativity on challenging projects
  • Positive attitude, fast learner, and good instincts

COMPENSATION: 

The expected hiring range for this position is $16.85 to $19.85 per hour, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be currently enrolled in high school, an associate’s program, a bachelors program or masters program.
