Synaptics is looking for a Sr. Staff Digital Design Engineer, WLAN PHY to join our dynamic and growing WDP team. You will be responsible to drive the WLAN PHY architecture, design and implementation of Wi-Fi 6/7 chips for the IOT market. Your responsibilities include coordinating with multiple teams on specifications, design deliverables, handoff, verification, and timing closure. This role will work closely with Systems/RF/Analog/SW/Validation teams for productizing WLAN/BT combo chips for home IOT and automotive markets. This position will report to the Director, ASIC Engineering. 

Job Duties 

  • Define WLAN PHY architecture from the standards and/or requirement documents
  • Digital design, RTL implementation, Lint, CDC checks, timing closure, verification and coverage closure, ECO implementation and chip productization debug
  • Work with Systems/SW team in performance analysis and propose IP enhancements to achieve better PPA 
  • Provide expertise on technical issues or specific technologies in the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth field
  • Work on cutting-edge low power WiFi6 & WiFi7 client device for Home/IOT/Automotive markets
  • Partner closely with Program Management, Engineering Management, and group members

Competencies 

  • Strong Digital Design and Wireless Technology fundamentals
  • Knowledge in Wireless Communication, Digital Communication, Communication Theory, Digital Signal Processing
  • Knowledge in Lint, CDC, timing constraints, synthesis, power analysis
  • Ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly 
  • Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment to complete projects on time with minimal guidance
  • Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate
  • Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas 
  • Resourceful and able to solve highly complex problems through adaptation of existing technology and development of new technology with a deep understanding of product architecture 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication that is clear, concise, and compelling
  • Ability to work within a diverse team and mentor developing team members

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Electrical/Electronics, Communication, Engineering or related field, or equivalent
  • 12+ years of experience in the design and delivery of IPs
  • Strong digital communication background is required 
  • Proven experience in designing digital circuits for wireless product
  • Experience in defining and using advanced front-end design flows based on industry standard EDA tools
  • Deep experience with system test, troubleshooting and root cause analysis of wireless product
  • No travel required
