As a Business Development Intern at MPOWER Financing, you will support the Growth team which includes the Sales, Marketing and Product functions. The mission is to build outreach strategies for student loans with data driven recommendations. You will get an exposure to real-world business development strategies and practices.

THE INTERNSHIP - Business Development (Washington D.C)

As a Business Development Intern at MPOWER Financing, you will support the Growth team which includes the Sales, Marketing and Product functions. The mission is to build outreach strategies for student loans with data driven recommendations. You will get an exposure to real-world business development strategies and practices.

We’re looking for interns who can think creatively and analytically, embrace ambiguity and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment. Ideal candidates will have a strong solution-focused mindset.

You will lead projects within scopes below:

  • Conducting market research to identify potential clients, market trends, and competitive landscape
  • Analyzing industry data and trends to assist in the development of targeted business strategies and enabling informed decision making
  • Drafting processes and project plans for current and future GTM strategies for effective internal and external communication to penetrate the international student loan segment
  • The focus will be on GTM for LATAM markets, including Mexico, Colombia and Brazil 

THE QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor's degree in business related field, postgraduate degree preferred
  • Prior work experience in sales, business, strategy teams with global exposure is a plus
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish - native or near-native proficiency in Spanish required. 
  • Some understanding of the cultural specificities in Latin America
  • Strong business acumen, tech-savvy, project management skills and data-driven
  • Ability to think "big picture" and also work at a tactical level 
  • International experience is a plus - international students welcomed 
  • Strong Analytical skills - database management / Sales Force or Tableau skills
  • Self-starter who can work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability present complex information clearly and concisely to different stakeholders

A passion for financial inclusion and access to higher education are an indication of good fit, as well as comfort working with a global team across multiple time zones and locations!

In addition, you should be comfortable working in a fast growth environment, meaning a small agile team, with fast-evolving roles and responsibilities, variable workload, tight deadlines, and a high degree of autonomy.
