Summary

Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients in the acute care setting. Responsible for meeting the established Standards of Nursing Practice and promoting cooperation among the health care team. Assist the department director in meeting the department goals. Responsible for managing and auditing of IMMS/Surginet/Cerner interface functions of Perioperative programs. In conjunction with the Director, The Surginet Database Administrator provides facilitation coordination and support for nursing computerization within Perioperative Services. Serves as a consultant/liaison for computer projects that involve Surgical Services and Information Management. Provides necessary liaison and interface activities for implementation and ongoing system operations. Serves as the training manager for the implementation, integration, and ongoing evolution of clinical information systems for Perioperative Services. Audits and submits all surgery charges and ensures any corrections are submitted within 3 days of patient discharge per Tenet Policy. Monitors and runs daily reports and makes additions and corrections as needed. Maintains tissue license master list and updates licenses when expired. Collects, distributes, and maintains all surgery tissue logs and ensures vendors receive usage information as mandated by the FDA. Assists with support functions within the department as needed. Acts as the facility Laser Safety Officer. Works collaboratively with Director to improve throughput efficiencies throughout perioperative services. May also support director with updating policies and procedures. Special projects to be developed with director.

Qualifications

Minimum:

(1) Graduate of school of nursing (2) Basic computer skills (3) Two-years recent acute care RN experience in Perioperative services with increasing leadership responsibilities. Previous experience in working with Cerner/Surginet program.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  1. Current California RN license, (2) AHA BLS-HCP. 3) 2 years OR experience

Preferred:

  1. BA/BS

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

Communication is an essential skill requiring the ability to see, hear, and speak. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to multitask in a fast paced, fluid environment of changing priorities. Requires advanced skills in word processing with the ability to establish and organize tables and excel documents. Requires accurate use and reconciliation of Perioperative software systems and proprietary financial programs. Fluent in written and spoken English. Pay range: $47.33 - $73.34

Provides direct and timely support to all Clinical Systems users. Resolves technical and administrative issues on assigned equipment and provides timely communications of issues. Reconciles or corrects patient data, records, or images when necessary. Conducts system installation and application adjustments, as necessary. Takes appropriate actions as required with assigned servers to minimize downtime when instructed to do so. Oversees and reports activities of vendors in support and maintenance of systems and the installation of new components. Maintains comprehensive site documentation to include an inventory of assigned equipment, system configuration details, warranty information, emergency contact lists and escalation procedures. Troubleshoots hardware and software issues and documents issues and resolutions. Establishes system performance benchmarks and thresholds. Performs daily system checks to include the review of system logs, clearing of errors, responding to failures/warnings and the comparison of system characteristics against benchmarks and thresholds. Implements and maintains a Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program that includes performance and documentation of periodic calibration and preventive maintenance of assigned equipment. Provides education and training on systems in use and provides periodic training updates as systems are upgraded or enhanced to all appropriate clinical staff as required. Implements system updates and enhancements and provides in-service presentations to inform personnel of system enhancements, their capabilities and impact on operations in coordination with the vendors, Information Services, Biomedical Engineering and department supervisors. -Maintains system security, audits system access and works with IS Security analyst to ensure compliance with security policy and procedures.
