About the Prototyping Team

The Synopsys DesignWare Prototyping Team in Porto, Portugal is part of a worldwide prototyping team responsible for the development of Linux drivers and contribution to kernel.org, debug tools, prototyping environments, hardware validation, and compliance testing of Synopsys DesignWare Interface IPs protocol controllers (i.e. PCIe, Ethernet, HDMI, MIPI, etc.) products.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving and inventorying all new equipment for the IP Validation team
  • Maintaining and inventorying all the existing equipment of the IP Validation team
  • Ensure the well-functioning of the equipment and its repair activities with manufacturers, if required
  • Coordinating and tracking the PHY boards purchase with our colleagues from the laboratory PHY prototype team
  • Ensuring the correct standard is followed in the setups assembled in the laboratory
  • Assemble and install new setups and cable tagging in the laboratory
  • Setup diagrams elaborations
  • In charge of the optimal utilization of the setups in the laboratory (laboratory and equipment organization includes racks, workbenches, and cabinets)
  • Provide local assistance in the laboratory for remote teams that use our system
  • Purchasing daily materials for the correct laboratory work activities
  • In charge of printing and designing objects for the laboratory using 3D printing
  • Monitor and provide some basic root cause analysis in the laboratory network

  • Strong desire to learn and put in place what has learned
  • Strong desire to put hands-on work
  • Passion for electronics and automation
  • English language speaker

Key Qualifications

  • Minimum high-school degree with a background in electronics
  • Or a bachelor's degree in Electronics will be a plus

Experience

  • No experience is required but if it has some experience in the electronic/laboratory area it will be a plus factor to have in consideration

Work conditions

  • Physical presence during the working day in the laboratory
  • Paid internship for 12 months
