About the Role:

Remitly is looking for a seasoned HR Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll. You will be responsible for the effective and efficient administration of employees’ timekeeping, payroll and compensation with alignment to local employment laws and other regulatory compliance.

The HR Specialist will be based in Mandaluyong City, Philippines reporting directly to the Head of Human Resources in Remitly’s Regional Office in the Philippines.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of all employee and compensation/benefits data.
  • Support new hire onboarding which includes payroll orientation for new hires and facilitation of payroll bank account opening.
  • Act as the timekeeping and payroll SME.
  • Process timesheet including adjustments on all attendance related activities impacting employee’s payroll.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of employee payrolls in accordance to published payroll calendar including bank files generation.
  • Secure timely approval of payroll and bank files from Head of HR and Finance Lead
  • Prepare a monthly payroll report with a data driven analysis to understand employee’s timekeeping and payroll opportunities and recommend corrective action plans.
  • Establish compassionate partnership with employees and leadership teams to manage attendance and payroll disputes, if applicable.
  • Monitor and process employee's company and government statutory requirements.
  • Facilitate onboarding and offboarding to/from the timekeeping and payroll system.
  • Process all final pay-related activities which may include but not limited to computation of salaries, other payables, deductions of the separated employee, and release of final pay packets.
  • Partner with the Finance Team on the reporting requirements as mandated by local statutory agencies (SSS, HDMF, PHIC, and BIR) including the timely posting of payments/remittances monthly and annually
  • Reconcile employee’s year-to-date or annual income in compliance with established BIR regulations including timely submission of required income tax reports.
  • Liaise with banks and government offices on payroll-related matters
  • Continuously improve established policies and practices related to timekeeping and payroll in compliance with mandated local employment laws
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks, as needed

Job Qualifications:

  • At least 3+ years HR experience specifically compensation and benefits/payroll.
  • A high level of confidentiality.
  • A data-driven and analytical approach.
  • Demonstrated strength in regulatory compliance.
  • A strong sense of urgency and sound judgment.
  • Has initiative and resourcefulness in meeting set deadlines
  • In-depth knowledge in HR best practices and local labor laws.
  • Alignment with Remitly’s mission, vision, and cultural values.
  • Be amenable to work onsite and demonstrate flexibility to work on a shifting schedule.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Google Suite
  • WD employee data/payroll/benefits management experience is a plus
  • Experience in managing ticketing systems
