The University of Southern California (USC) Department of Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a Technical Solutions Architect experienced in federal data security regulations and with an exceptional commitment to service excellence to join our team. As the Technical Solutions Architect, Regulated Data Security you will be an integral member of the Security Architecture team of the Office of the CISO while reporting to the Director, Security Architecture. This is a full-time, nonexempt position, eligible all USC Benefits + Perks available to its tenure such as comprehensive medical coverage, generous retirement matching, and free tuition.
This opportunity is open to remote contributors within the United States and committed to working the Pacific time zone with occasional time onsite, both aligned with business needs. Due to federal requirements, this role is not eligible for sponsorship.
The Technical Solutions Architect, Regulated Data Security will act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the areas of federal, state and local regulatory requirements to identify, communicate and document applicable regulatory requirements to design solutions that meet operational, business and regulatory requirements. In addition, this SME will provide forward looking guidance on architecture, security and compliance in the areas of federal, state and local regulatory requirements.

The annual base salary range for this position is $165,000 to $180,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree
Minimum Experience: 10 years
Minimum Skills: Recognized subject matter expertise in at least one IT discipline (e.g., Networking, Information Security, High-Performance Computing, Cloud Computing, Software Engineering, IT Infrastructure). Excellent presentation and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to lead in a highly matrixed, heavily federated organization through a combination of influence, partnership, and authority. The ability to create original concepts/theories for various projects and to work independently.
Preferred Education: Master's degree Computer Science Or Master's degree Computer Information Systems Or Master's degree Business Administration
Preferred Skills: Recognized subject matter expertise in multiple IT disciplines (e.g., Networking, Information Security, High Performance Computing, Cloud Computing, Software Engineering, IT Infrastructure). Strong analytical, research and conceptual skills. Ability to develop and maintain key relationships to achieve business objectives essential. Extensive knowledge in the use of Project Management and Enterprise Architecture methodologies and tools. Strong leadership skills.
