As a Supplier Development Engineering Intern, you will assist the Supplier Development Engineering team as well as the Supply Chain Category Management team. You will use professional communication, critical thinking, and time management skills to support active strategic sourcing projects and critical supplier development strategies through proven quality processes.

You will also have the opportunity to work with other motivated interns and engage with members of other teams such as Planning & Fulfillment, Operations, ITM, and Factory teams to expand your knowledge, skills, and abilities related to Supplier Development.

Work Location: Remote *some travel will be required*. 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Manage project implementation using APQP with guidance from a Supplier Development Engineer.
  • Implement improvements in supplier processes and controls.
  • Conduct supplier PPAP submission reviews with guidance from a Supplier Development Engineer.
  • Manage and lead material qualification activities toward introducing new source of supply.
  • Resolve critical supplier issues through robust corrective action implementation.
  • Actively promote component standardization during projects.
  • Apply and implement Hitachi Energy SCM standards, tools, and processes.
  • Business travel: 1-3 possible trips over the summer internship period.

Your Background:

  • Rising junior or senior obtaining their bachelor’s OR master's degree in an Engineering or Quality related discipline.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Participation in school or extracurricular activities and experience in leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated project management skills for multi-discipline projects.
  • Good communication skills both oral and written.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Multilingual is a plus.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university program in the US.
