Position overview

As a THIRD SHIFT MACHINE OPERATOR (10:30pm-7am), you will be part of the Optical Manufacturing team which is responsible for producing precision optics and optical assemblies. The team includes Opticians, Metrologists, Machinists, Technicians, Technologists and Engineers. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Set up machinery for operation
  • Start machinery and make adjustments to machinery when necessary to improve performance
  • Operate machinery and equipment according to instructions
  • Troubleshoot issues and perform maintenance
  • Perform quality control, follow reporting and recordkeeping procedures, and report problems to supervisor
  • Comply with all safety and health regulations
  • Clean machinery and maintain cleanliness in work area
  • Monitoring machine operations with the support of skilled personnel 
  • Operate/monitor multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops
  • Reading and understanding instructions

This job is critical to the success of the organization. Optics and optical assemblies are at the heart of the majority of products produced by ISR and Space Systems. This position is essential to our mission because it directly contributes to the high-precision products we deliver in support of our nation’s security interests.

Education / Certifications

HS Diploma or GED

Experience / Qualifications

  • Previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing facility, or relevant education and work experience
  • Excellent communication skills with attention to detail, conveying information effectively 
  • Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations in different units of measurement
  • Willingness to work in shifts and overtime, if necessary
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude

NOTE THAT THIRD SHIFT HOURS ARE FROM 10:30pm-7am. TRAINING WILL BE DONE ON FIRST SHIFT. YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL PAY
