The Quality Assurance teams are responsible for validating all work before it goes to production. This includes software: web, mobile, connected device applications, media, non-consumer facing products and more. Additionally, the Quality Assurance teams create and maintain the framework used for automation testing at DSS and performs all performance testing.

We are looking to fill an intern for web, mobile and automation within Disney Streaming Services.

Web QA Intern

  • As a Web QA Intern, you’ll assist in the day to day activities of the Responsive QA Web Team. You will be taking part in reviewing and providing feedback on marketing campaign requests as well as assisting the team with daily functions.

Mobile QA Intern

  • As a Mobile QA Intern, you’ll assist in day-to-day activities of the Mobile QA team. Taking part in the Software Development Life Cycle for mobile applications, seeing the application go from the planning and development phase until launching to the public.

Automation QA Intern

  • As a QA Automation Engineer intern, you’ll assist with the daily activities of reviewing nightly test automation runs, writing new testing scenarios as well as working with enhancing the various test automation frameworks that are currently in use. You’ll work with other engineers on the team while adhering to best coding standards and practices. In addition to you’ll also work with stakeholders and interns from other teams.

A Day in the Life…

Web Responsibilities

  • The QA Intern will assist QA Analysts in performing functional, system integration, and regression testing.
  • The candidate will be responsible for the execution of test plans, test cases, and test scripts to verify new and existing (regression) software functionality.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to quickly learn the basics of the software development life cycle, connected devices hardware, and QA best practices.
  • The candidate will develop skills in diagnosing and solving problems and providing basic technical analysis
  • The QA Intern will work with other QA Analysts and Software Engineers to ensure overall reliability and quality of the user experience

Mobile Responsibilities

  • The candidate will be responsible for the execution of test plans, test cases, and test scripts to verify new and existing (regression) software functionality.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to quickly learn the basics of the software development life cycle, mobile hardware and operating systems, and QA best practices.
  • The QA Intern will work with other QA Analysts and Software Engineers to ensure overall reliability and quality of the user experience

Automation Responsibilities

  • Assist with reviewing nightly Test Automation runs.
  • Work with other engineers to create and design additional tests across multiple platforms and languages.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to quickly learn the basics of the software development life cycle as well as understand the platforms that Disney Streaming Services has products out on.
  • The candidate will develop skills in diagnosing and solving problems as well as grow their technical skill set.

Basic Qualifications:

Web Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Understanding of the quality assurance life cycle

Mobile Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic technical troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
  • Strong reading comprehension skills and detail oriented in reporting abilities

Automation Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Test Automation concepts.
  • Demonstrable skills in either Java or C#.
  • Ability to work with little supervision as well as being able to work collaboratively with other team members.
  • Demonstrable skills in test automation utilizing selenium or other open source tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of either video streaming applications, and/or mobile platforms, particularly Android and iOS devices, including phones/handsets and tablets. Experience with Apple TV and Android TV devices is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the following platforms:
  • Connected Devices (Android TV, Playstation 4, Roku, Tizen, tvOS & Xbox One)
  • Mobile (Android & iOS).
  • Web (Chrome, Edge, Firefox & Safari)

Required Education

  • Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Graduate Level student or recent graduate (within 6 months of graduating) pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or related field.

Additional Information:

Internship Eligibility:

Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney

Professional Internship:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide full work availability during Program Length (listed below)
  • Must provide own transportation to/from work
  • Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)

Program Length: The approximate dates of this internship are June 8-August 21st, 2020.

Ability to provide own relocation, housing and transportation. Position is located in New York City.

Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.
