Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to support the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies for electronic products. This individual will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to create designs that meet performance, cost, and manufacturability requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D models and detailed 2D drawings for electronic enclosures, components, and assemblies using SolidWorks and AutoCAD software.
  • Translate engineering requirements into manufacturable mechanical designs, ensuring proper fit, form, and function.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to support product development and production.
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawings, and design documentation.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and design validation; revise designs based on feedback and results.
  • Ensure designs meet industry standards, safety requirements, and internal specifications.
  • Assist with design for manufacturability (DFM), tolerance analysis, and material selection.
  • Troubleshoot design issues during production and recommend practical solutions.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, mechanical engineering principles, and drafting.
  • Experience in mechanical design for electronics.
  • Ability to perform tolerance analysis and layout design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Certification, AS or BS Degree in Design, Mechanical Engineering, or SolidWorks.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing setting within a small to mid-size company, with 8 employees on the Engineering team. The dress code is business casual, and the working hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. The position offers 6 paid holidays and accrued NYS Sick time during the contract period. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $31.25/hr.
