About you and this role

As the Maintenance Engineer, you provide engineering support to address plant issues that are impacting production over a short period of time. You provide technical expertise which may be equipment based or repair technique based that impacts the availability and maintainability of the facility. This role requires expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and broadens capabilities.

This role is aligned to the Diamond Infrastructure Solutions (“Diamond Infra”) company and will be seconded from Dow to Diamond Infrastructure Solutions until January 1, 2027. At that time, the role will become directly aligned to the Diamond Infrastructure Solutions Company.

Responsibilities

  • Provide input on equipment failures and repair techniques during root cause investigations.
  • Develop maintenance operating discipline.
  • Provide technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating whether equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions.
  • Ensure that work requests include engineering input on repair details and if necessary, provide onsite/offsite technical support for deviations from this data, for equipment that is critical for the process.
  • Ensure repairs, repair techniques and equipment specific training are documented and made available.
  • Provide maintainability input to Global Project Methodology activities.
  • Support the preventive maintenance coordinator, as required, in reviewing spare parts list for existing equipment.
  • Enter quality, service and product performance information into the reporting system.
  • Provide engineering input for work packages to ensure standards are followed, as required. Provide input on development of work orders during development of turnaround work particularly on critical equipment requiring engineering review or input.
  • Provide equipment reliability and performance data to the technical resource networks for input into equipment purchasing requirements, evaluation of equipment performance, vendor performance, and modifications to MET.
  • Complete EH&S orientation and all required training. Exhibit safe work behaviors and works safely without injury or insult to the environment. Fulfill all requirements of the production area and/or maintenance area EH&S.
  • Support Industrial Hygiene and other EH&S work process activities. Incorporates safety considerations in planning and maintenance implementation. Understand impact of process chemistry with respect to materials of construction or lubrication.
  • Analyze impact of equipment failures on maintenance spending to identify improvement opportunities. Initiate reliability related MOCs and effectively implement change in own area of responsibility in coordination with appropriate leadership. Understand principles of Long-Term Cost of Ownership. Analyze and troubleshoot maintenance spending in assigned area with coaching.
  • Facilitate root cause investigations as required.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering required. Mechanical or Chemical engineering degree preferred. Degree must be obtained prior to start date. In lieu of a degree, relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant is accepted.
  • Some manufacturing, engineering, or related experience preferred.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

  • Technical Troubleshooting & Equipment Expertise: Diagnose equipment failures, recommend repair techniques, and ensure equipment meets service conditions.
  • Maintenance Strategy & Planning: Develop maintenance disciplines, support preventive maintenance, and use reliability metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Documentation & Communication: Document repair procedures and training materials and provide clear engineering input for work orders and turnaround packages.
  • Safety & Compliance Awareness: Complete EH&S training, integrate safety into maintenance planning, and understand process chemistry impacts.
  • Collaboration & Project Support: Work with plant personnel and technical networks, support equipment purchasing decisions, and contribute to project methodology.
