Job Description
The Virginia Tech School of Communication invites applications for a full-time, open-rank professor of practice (non-tenure-track). The successful candidate will be expected to teach advertising courses, which could include Advertising Copywriting and Brand Storytelling, Account Planning and Media Buying, and Ethics and Social Responsibility in Advertising, Advertising Campaigns, as well as courses relevant to the instructor’s area of expertise. The expected teaching load is three classes per semester.
Applicants must have a master’s degree in advertising or related field or a bachelor’s degree in advertising, communication, public relations, marketing, or related field with substantial experience in advertising. Preference will be given to applicants with college teaching experience, a doctorate in advertising or a related field, and advertising account planning/management as well as copywriting experience. About the School of Communication
The School of Communication serves more than 1,000 undergraduate students across five majors (sports media and analytics, public relations, multimedia journalism, communication, and advertising) and 30 graduate students in its MA in communication and MA in reputation management degrees. Virginia Tech ranked 5th in the 2022 Sportscasters Talent Association of America ranking of sports broadcasting schools and is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America.
