Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Clinical Sales Manager for Heart Recovery, working as a key member of the team to support both clinical adoption and strategic marketing execution.

Position summary

Heart Recovery, part of Johnson & Johnson MedTech (Abiomed), is a global leader in mechanical circulatory support (MCS) and minimally invasive heart pump technology.

For more than 20 years, Heart Recovery has advanced breakthrough innovations such as the Impella® heart pump platform, enabling physicians worldwide to stabilize hemodynamics, unload the heart, and support cardiac recovery in patients with cardiogenic shock and complex high-risk PCI. Heart Recovery continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in cardiovascular care.

In the role of Product Manager, you will develop and market the designated product portfolio (product segment) in line with the short- and long-term view of the sales, profit, and quality objectives of the company. You will successfully execute the agreed marketing plan. You will be the prime source of information related to the product and market, responsible for partnering with and enabling the sales organization in its activities related to the product category. You will manage critical processes related to business planning, marketing planning, portfolio management and development, market research, new product launches and business performance tracking. In addition to marketing responsibilities, during the initial phase of the role, you will actively engage in sales activities with defined sales targets and will be eligible for sales incentives based on performance. This hands-on experience will help you build strong clinical and market insights, which are critical for long-term success in product management.

You will be responsible for:

1. Marketing & Portfolio Leadership

  • Develop and execute the marketing strategy for the Heart Recovery portfolio (Impella platform) in alignment with Korea, APAC and Global business goals.
  • Maintain deep clinical and market understanding of cardiogenic shock, high-risk PCI, heart failure pathways, and mechanical circulatory support (MCS) therapy.
  • Drive market development initiatives, including therapy awareness, onboarding programs, patient pathway optimization, and partnership building with KOLs and key institutions.
  • Analyze the competitive landscape across MCS devices (ECMO, IABP, others) and Impella product positioning.
  • Define short- and long-term marketing objectives and operational plans.

2. Clinical Execution & Case Support (≈ 50%)

  • Participate in clinical case observations and procedure support to ensure deep understanding of Impella therapy, workflows, and user needs.
  • Complete the Impella Clinical Sales training curriculum (identical to the training path for Clinical Sales Specialists) to acquire hands-on competency in pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure patient management principles.
  • Provide in-service education and hands-on training for physicians, nurses, and cath lab/ICU teams.
  • During the initial phase, actively engage in sales activities with defined sales targets and performance-based incentives, leveraging clinical immersion to build strong customer relationships and accelerate therapy adoption.
  • Partner with Clinical Sales team to support hospital readiness, case planning, workflow mapping, and Heart Recovery program development.
  • Act as a clinical & marketing interface to translate field insights into market strategy, product positioning, and evidence-based messaging.
  • Maintain high responsiveness to customer needs during cases, troubleshooting, and follow-up learning cycles.

3. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Clinical Sales, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Quality, Supply Chain, and APAC/Global teams to enable seamless product introduction and therapy adoption.
  • Collaborate with global marketing teams to localize global strategy into Korea-tailored programs and materials.
  • Ensure field feedback is accurately communicated to leadership, global teams, and product development.

4. New Product Development & Launch Excellence

  • Identify clinical unmet needs through field immersion and convert insights into product and program opportunities.
  • Lead launch plans for new Heart Recovery products and next-generation platforms with strong clinical positioning.

5. Reporting & Performance Measurement

  • Provide regular reports on product activities, therapy adoption, case utilization trends, and market expansion metrics.
  • Monitor key KPIs including case volume, hospital activation, training completion, and therapy penetration.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in life sciences, biomedical engineering, nursing, or health-related fields preferred.
  • Strong clinical aptitude with willingness to undergo full Heart Recovery/Impella Clinical Sales training, including:
  • Hemodynamics
  • Cardiogenic shock pathways
  • Impella device mechanics, placement, troubleshooting
  • Cath lab & ICU workflow understanding
  • Ability to participate in case observations and support physicians during initial stages of therapy introduction.
  • Experience in cardiology/interventional cardiology, critical care, or structural heart is highly desirable.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to integrate clinical insight into marketing strategies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including capability to educate multidisciplinary teams (ICU, Cath Lab, CCU, physicians).
  • Strong project management and stakeholder-alignment skills.
  • High resilience and adaptability to dynamic clinical situations and complex hospital environments.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams, including Sales, Clinical, Medical Affairs, and APAC/Global partners.
