Job Responsibilities

  • Providing high-quality nursing care in acute facilities in nearby areas
  • Helping patients with activities of daily living by serving meals, feeding as needed, and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals
  • Ambulating, turning, and positioning patients throughout the day and transporting them within the facility as needed
  • Providing patient comfort by utilizing available resources and materials, answering patients’ call lights and requests, and reporting observations of the patient to the nursing supervisor
  • Maintaining patient safety by checking and documenting vital signs and weight
  • Recording intake and output information and performing point of care (POC) testing to include glucose checks (when permitted by scope of practice and facility policies)
  • Documenting actions by charting, completing forms, reports, logs, and records
  • Ensuring the confidentiality of patient information
  • Adhering to professional standards, facility policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission standards
  • Being accountable to follow and adhere to patient care plans
  • Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and professional organizations, reading professional publications, and maintaining licensure

Qualifications and Skills

  • Active Massachusetts CNA certification
  • Successful completion of state required training and/or state-sanctioned competency exam
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant or related role
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Immunizations as required
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
