Job Title: Intern – Solutions Engineer (Smart Cities)

Location: Bracknell

Role Type: 2026 12-month sandwich course placement

We have an opportunity for a Solutions Engineer (Smart Cities) Intern to join us at Honeywell, in Bracknell, where you will be at the forefront of driving innovative solutions that enhance urban living and improve the efficiency of city operations. You will work with teams to develop and implement smart city technologies that address the challenges faced by urban environments. In this role, you will impact the development of smart city initiatives, driving operational excellence and enhancing the quality of life for city residents through innovative technology solutions. This is a hybrid role, 3 days at the office + 2 days work from home model.

This role is part of our University Relations program, designed to help students and recent graduates launch their careers with hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities for growth within Honeywell. This internship is set up for 12 months to cover a sandwich placement starting in Summer 2026, with the opportunity for a permanent opportunity once you graduate in 2028.

Key responsibilities:

You will have a buddy assigned to you and work closely with experienced professionals to gain hands-on experience within a friendly and supportive team to be trained to achieve the following:

• Develop and implement smart city solutions that enhance urban infrastructure and services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate technology solutions that improve city operations.
• Engage with stakeholders to identify needs and tailor solutions that meet specific urban challenges.
• Contribute to the roadmap of our smart cities and communities’ offerings, focusing on innovation and technology advancements.
• Utilise your software engineering experience to enhance the development and deployment of smart city technologies.

Key skills and qualifications:

• Currently studying towards a degree in computer science, or software, electrical, systems or mechatronics engineering, that requires a sandwich placement in 2026m graduating in 2028
• The ability to commute with ease to Bracknell for this internship
• A passion for at least two of the following: Software Engineering, R&D Engineering, Data Management & Analytics, AI/ML, Programming Languages, IoT Technologies, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and Project Management and Regulatory Knowledge
• Business level English communication skills, written and spoken
• An interest in collaborating and working in a multicultural cross-border team
