The Opportunity: The department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences and the Veterinary Teaching Hospital seeks an experienced Personnel and Payroll Manager to join our team.
Summary of Duties:
Direct and oversee personnel and payroll operations for the department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences and the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, a large, complicated organization consisting of faculty, graduate assistants, administrative professional staff, civil service staff, temporary hourly workers and student employees. The personnel manager is responsible for independently directing personnel and payroll processes for these employees in compliance with state, university and union policies. Incumbent is responsible for managing recruitment efforts, hiring, reclassifications, salary adjustments, annual review processes, time and leave reporting, payroll activities and position budget planning. Personnel manager oversees graduate assistantship appointments in compliance with university guidelines and union contract terms. Coordinates with and advises departmental leadership to ensure personnel policies and procedures are followed and organizational goals are met. Responsible for reviewing processes and procedures on an ongoing basis to identify opportunities to create efficiencies and streamline processes. Provides ongoing training opportunities for departmental and hospital staff and supervisors on personnel, payroll, and time/leave reporting matters. Supervises 2 FTE supporting personnel, recruitment and payroll support services, and works closely with the Assistant Director to manage position budget, and prepare fiscal analysis to assist with organizational planning.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary:
$5,635 - $6,763 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
