The Weapons Systems Engineer SME position provides direct acquisition program systems and electrical engineering support as a key team member supporting USAF Weapons Systems Program Office (SPO) activities, specifically the program chief engineer, on Eglin AFB, FL. The successful candidate will interface and coordinate with multiple government leads and prime and other contractors within the USAF AFMC AFLCMC/EBI Program Office and enterprise.
Responsibilities:
Weapons Program Involvement
- Budget review, cost analysis review, systems pricing determinations
- Documentation of weapons requirements and acquisition decision making - MOAs, SEP, SRD/WSS/CDD, TEMP, EDRAP, ICD
- Weapons Requirements and Design Reviews
- Special Test Equipment (STE) design and requirements, contracting for weapons design, integration, and acquisition
- Involvement with safety oversight (eg NNMSB)
- Interface, performance, and requirements verification planning with DT and OT test communities
Negotiation with aircraft programs (&primes) - F-35, F-47, B-21
- Requirements levied to/from aircraft
- Memorandum of Agreements with necessary programs and organizations
Interfaces
- Interface Control Working Group (ICWG) – participation or oversight
- Logical – familiarity with appropriate standards and ICDs, -1553, -1760, UAI…
- Electrical – familiarity with IDD development processes and requirements, weapons module design/integration, systems integration requirements, and a/c interface standards/requirements
- Physical – experience with launchers, carriage and separation, fitment analysis
- Datalink/Network connectivity, LAR/WEZ, GPS?
- Mission Planning/Mission Data requirements

Airworthiness process
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering plus 20 or more years of experience in USAF Weapons Program Office support
- Experience working with Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) or similar.
- Experience as Chief Engineer for USAF Weapons Programs
- Ability to interact and communicate in a professional manner with senior military and government leadership
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- TS/SCI clearance required.

Desired Qualifications:
- Masters degree plus 12 years of practical USAF Weapons development experience
- ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP certification
- Ability to secure a TS/SCI
