Test Engineer - Brake and Vehicle Stability (Troy, MI, or other unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.)
What You Will Do:
Responsibilities include: Supporting integration of driving assistance and vehicle control technologies into prototype vehicles. Integrating braking and stability assists technology into vehicle line-up. Providing specification creation/modification, in direct coordination with Tier 1 suppliers. Working on bench testing and in vehicle validation/verification on proving grounds. Working under the supervision and direction of associate engineers to support control validation testing. Reviewing current electronic controls systems specifications and developing the functional requirements related to Controller Area Network interface, Self-Diagnostic, Failsafe Detection for each vehicle development. Validating electronic braking and stability assist system software function by completing standard requirement testing on bench and in vehicle by proving grounds. Validating electrical hardware by EMC and ultrasonic testing and working with suppliers to countermeasure any issues found. Supporting ISO 26262 testing, maintaining deliverable schedule, and ensuring requirements are achieved and approved by technical
experts. Working directly with the system supplier to lead the integration of software functions into the vehicle, as well as verification of the functions. Negotiating requirements across multiple function (meter, ADAS, architecture, etc.) teams and coordinating with design functions to ensure correct control specifications are applied to the electronic brake and stability assist system drawings. Coordinating with factory associates during build phases to ensure controls are achieving required specifications and assisting in chassis software/control issue resolution across engineering (manufacturing) and design. Coordinating with the global office key deliverables to regional developments. Evaluating test parts and test vehicles to collect data necessary to validate specifications. Driving vehicles on road and/or test course to collect test data for analysis. Improving development tools with focus on test efficiency and accuracy.
Basics:
MS in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering. 12 mon exp as a Test or Proving Grounds Engineer. 12 mon. in: CANalyzer; CANoe; Vehicle Technology Validation; Vehicle Data Analysis; ADAS Validation; Bench Marking; Vehicle Diagnosis; Vehicle Dynamics; Test Data Validation; Requirement Analysis. Telecommuting permitted. 40 hrs/wk. 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. $93,537.60/year.
