Job Summary

The Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies is seeking a creative and technically skilled videography intern to join our dynamic marketing and communications team for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Department Specific Responsibilties

  • Gains hands-on experience across all phases of video production, from concept development and shooting to editing and post-production.
  • Ability to assist in brainstorming video concepts and developing storyboards/scripts, operate professional video cameras, audio recording equipment, and lighting gear during on-location shoots, capture engaging footage, interviews, event coverage, and candid moments.
  • Edits video content to make it ready to distribute on HLS's social media.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at Indiana University

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 1 year of videography experience

SKILLS

Required

  • Demonstrates foundational understanding of video production principles, including camera operation, lighting, composition, and sound recording
  • Proficiency with video editing software
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong visual storytelling ability, with an eye for capturing engaging and authentic moments
  • Availability to attend HLS events during the week/weekend to capture videos
  • A portfolio or examples of previous videography work (personal or professional) is highly encouraged

  • Being able to capture, edit, and distribute videos in a timely manner

Working Conditions / Demands

Requires a mix of on-campus work in the HLS building for event coverage and weekly meetings as well as remote work for editing and distributing videos

Ability to transport and set up videography equipment (cameras, tripods, lighting, audio gear)

Comfortable working independently at events and working collaboratively with the HLS marketing and communications team

Work Location

This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.

Advertised Salary

$12.00 per hour

Work Hours

Ability to commit approximately 10-15 hours a week to working

Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for event coverage or urgent content deadlines
