CINEMA (BL-CINE-IUBLA)
Indiana University Cinema is a renowned curatorial program and arthouse movie theater dedicated to using film and cinema studies for intellectual emancipation and cultural edification. As an academic unit on IU Bloomington's campus, the Cinema advances cultural and scholastic excellence in myriad forms, including but not limited to, film series; visiting filmmaker and other industry professionals, offering students unparalleled access to some of the most influential global artists; conferences and symposia; original intellectual production; student-film showcases, internships, mentorship, and practical industry experiences; and community engagement programs.
IU Cinema is a leading participant in the life and culture of Indiana University. With more than 200 programs per year that include a unique, innovative, and expansive mix of visiting industry professionals; screenings with live music; academic and community partnerships; enhancements to the use, scholarship, and research associated with the Indiana University film collections and other archives around the world; and special retrospectives & programs, IU Cinema is a benchmark other cinema programs aspire to.
This role operates as part of a team to present Cinema programs, including technical support required for digital screenings, live events, classes, lectures, and other ancillary programs.

The role frequently requires the ability to move about the working environment; handle or operate objects such as film; position self to move at higher and lower levels; ability to move in close quarters. This position requires sufficient ability to thread, rewind, inspect, and repair film. Ability to move 10 pounds objects on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds on occasion. The role requires the ability to detect items in close proximity as well as far away; discern between colors; detect objects in peripheral space of self; discern items in detail; and detect how far away an object is. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Applicants need to be aware that any film screened at IU Cinema could contain sensitive subject matter, including but not limited to graphic violence, drug use, sexual assault, bodily harm to people and/or animals and frank depictions of sexuality and/or nudity. Films may also contain flashing lights or images.

$19.00 per hour
10 hours per weeknight and weekend shifts
Monday-Friday shift starts at 5:30 PM
Weekends shift start at 2:30 PM or 5:30 PM
Work is scheduled during IU Cinema active programming, which is typically late August through late June, except university breaks.
Additional hours may be available as the Cinema's rental and programming schedule requires.
