As a world-renowned VR/AR brand with independent innovation and R&D capabilities, Pico has been at the forefront of the consumer electronic market. We are looking for creative and passionate optical engineer interns to join us in our optics system team. You will be working with top-notch engineers and scientists to explore and define the frontier of technology for the future of AR/VR.

Internships at ByteDance aim to provide students with hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills and exploring potential career paths. A vibrant blend of social events and enriching development workshops will be available for you to explore. Here, you will utilize your knowledge in real-world scenarios while laying a strong foundation for personal and professional growth. It runs for 12-24 weeks and begins in August/September 2025. Successful candidates must be able to commit to one of the following start dates below:

  • Monday, August 11
  • Monday, August 25
  • Monday, September 8
  • Monday, September 22

Responsibilities:

  • Exploration of novel camera sensors and systems for the improvement of performances.
  • Develop optical design and simulation software for AR/VR optical systems.
  • Develop optical system prototypes (bench-top and head-mounted) to inform design decisions.
  • Work closely with internal technology teams and external industry partners to develop advanced optical technologies.
  • Communicate design and development progress across collaboration teams.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing Ph.D. in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in at least one of the following: Imaging optics design, Image quality analysis, Computer graphics, Visual Optics, or Optical testing and metrology
  • Knowledge and experience in programming languages such as Python, C++, Matlab.
  • Excellent communication skills; highly self-motivated, solid teamwork skills.
