Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

A dynamic company in West Michigan specializing in the repair and rebuilding of press machines is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying the root cause of equipment, parts, or system failures and developing effective solutions. This role involves both hands-on work on the floor and analytical tasks in the office using SolidWorks for reverse engineering and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot machines, parts, and systems based on customer requests.
• Discuss issues with customers to identify the root cause of failures.
• Update prints and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing to ensure accuracy.
• Create guidelines and testing protocols for manufacturing to analyze failures.
• Communicate with field service technicians to ensure they have necessary information for inspection, repair, rebuilding, or modification of equipment.
• Disassemble and inspect machines, parts, or systems.
• Discuss customer complaints and findings from investigations.
• Utilize CAD software, such as SolidWorks, to navigate prints and make necessary updates.
• Use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and physical tools to troubleshoot and identify root causes of equipment or parts failures.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Ability to troubleshoot machinery, specifically press machines.
• Expertise in Root Cause Analysis.
• Knowledge in Blueprint Reading.
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in press machine design, repair, or building.
• Familiarity with drive shafts.

Work Environment

The role operates under standard hours from 8 AM to 5 PM.

The engineer will collaborate with a team of 4 engineers, 3 quality team members, and a field service team.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $34.62/hr.
