This Position reports to:

R&D Team Lead

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.

You will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement (6 months). Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.

Join as an intern to contribute to the next generation of grid automation solutions that enable flexible and sustainable electricity distribution. The internship tasks will include:

  • Exploration of current challenges in grid automation through direct collaboration with R&D teams
  • Review of academic literature and analysis of existing technical approaches
  • Design, evaluation, and documentation of innovative solutions to real-world problems
  • Development of proof-of-concept implementations to demonstrate feasibility

Qualifications for the Role

  • You currently pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (enrollment to 5th semester or higher is essential) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • You possess good knowledge of computer architecture (CPU, memory hierarchy, etc.) and have solid programming skills in C/C++ (including debugging and testing)
  • You are comfortable working on Linux and feel familiar with systems-level or embedded programming
  • You are at ease communicating in English
  • Non-EU/non-EFTA citizens, please note that a certificate from your university, showing that an internship is a mandatory part of your studies, is required for the visa application
