Ford Motor Company Electrified Systems Engineering (ESE) organization's vision is to anticipate and innovate smart electrified powertrains and features that deliver exciting and rewarding consumer experiences resulting in a profitable EV business for a smart world. Ford High Voltage (HV) battery team is looking for a Battery Disconnect Unit (BDU) Core Contactor and Components Engineer who will lead design, development, launch, and integration of new HV Contactors and other BDU components in future model vehicles. The HV BDU Core Contactor and Components Engineer will work with suppliers and engineers on developing innovative solutions to meet the HV battery needs, and vehicle system requirements through DV/PV testing.

What you'll do…

  • Benchmark various contactor designs used in HV batteries.
  • Develop new contactor and component designs to meet future HV battery needs.
  • Develop new design corrective actions based on past lessons learned.
  • Validate design concepts through CAE and physical testing.
  • Develop and Maintain BDU contactor and component Design Rules and Requirements.
  • Support global application engineering teams by interfacing with cross-functional teams (Controls, CAE, Testing, Purchasing, STA) within Ford and supply base.
  • Support diagnosis of field and prototype issues related to contactors and BDU components.
  • Develop component Boundary Diagrams, P-Diagrams and DFMEAs and other control system documentation.

You'll have…

  • BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years of HV battery component design and development experience
  • Experience with FMEA, SCAAF and DVP&R documentation
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools

Even better, you may have…

  • MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years of high voltage component development
  • Experience using TeamCenter & CATIA CAD software
  • Experience using MATLAB
  • Experience with High Voltage switching and overcurrent protection
  • Understanding of Electrified Vehicle powertrain systems and architecture
  • Experience with physical testing of electronics

This position is a salary grade range 6-8.
