At REGENT, we’re on a mission to revolutionize regional transportation between coastal cities. We're not just building vehicles, we're creating a new category of transportation: the seaglider. These groundbreaking wing-in-ground-effect craft travel just above the water’s surface, combining the speed of an airplane with the low operating costs of a boat. Capable of 180 miles at 180 mph on today's battery tech (and up to 400 miles with next-gen batteries), seagliders will unlock fast, affordable, and sustainable coastal transit for passengers and cargo - connecting cities, islands, and communities like never before.
Backed by leading investors and powered by a team of passionate, forward-thinking engineers, builders, and operators, we’re now scaling from a breakthrough prototype to full production - and building the team to make it happen.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Software Infrastructure Engineer to own and scale the digital backbone that powers our full-vehicle test, integration, and analysis environment. From real-time data collection across moving vehicles to managing high-throughput systems that feed into automated test workflows - this is the role that makes deep hardware-software integration not just possible, but fast, reliable, and scalable.
As part of the Software Team, you’ll be joining a group of driven, collaborative, and talented engineers who take pride in solving complex technical challenges and making an impact as a team. We hold a high bar for engineering rigor, move fast, think boldly, and rely on our teamwork to push boundaries and and turn breakthrough ideas into real-world technology.
If you’re energized by working at the intersection of cutting-edge innovation, real-world impact, and hands-on engineering, you’ll be in the right place - and we’d be thrilled to have you on the team!
Key Responsibilities
- Build the Backbone: Design and scale a hybrid infrastructure stack (on-prem and cloud) to support high-bandwidth telemetry, software testing, and vehicle system integration - including live test campaigns and remote ops.
- Make Data Move at the Speed of Test: Design and operate high-bandwidth, real-time data pipelines that ingest, process, and surface insights from thousands of signals across vehicle systems. Your work will turn raw telemetry into immediate engineering action - fueling rapid iteration, safety, and performance breakthroughs.
- Engineer Relentless Reliability: Lead the development of systems that validate and verify complex hardware-software interactions, from unit tests to hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation and full mission rehearsal. You’ll bring automation to the edge of the envelope - so we can test faster, smarter, and more often.
- Multiply the Velocity of the Entire Engineering Team: Your platforms will enable every engineer at REGENT to move faster and more confidently. You’ll work side-by-side with cross-functional team members to translate high-stakes flight test challenges into elegant, reliable infrastructure that scales with the vehicle and the mission.
Requirements
- Demonstrated professional, full-time experience managing and optimizing databases, physical networks, and data storage solutions (at least 3 years post-graduate).
- Hands-on experience supporting test campaigns for vehicles, drones, boats, or aircraft - especially in fast-paced, real-world environments.
- Proficiency in C++, Python, and Bash with a track record of developing and maintaining complex software systems.
- Demonstrated experience with configuration management (e.g., Git), network performance monitoring (e.g., Wireshark), and data capture/analysis tools (e.g., LabView, MATLAB).
Nice-to-Haves
- A track record of applying DevOps principles to help dynamic software teams ship quickly and reliably.
- Familiarity with multi-disciplinary engineering and advanced network protocols (e.g., DDS, bridging, tunneling, multicast).
- Experience with containerization, orchestration tools, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Background in data, audio, and video streaming
Who We're Looking For
- Collaborative Team Player: You believe that great things happen when teams work together. You communicate effectively and collaborate with engineers, stakeholders, and other cross-functional teams to align on goals and move projects forward. You bring people together, ensuring that everyone is on the same page and moving towards a shared vision.
- Creative Problem Solver: You thrive on tackling complex challenges and finding innovative solutions. Whether it’s optimizing data pipelines, solving integration hurdles, or improving automation workflows, you approach every problem with creativity and determination. You’re able to address immediate needs while also planning for future scalability and efficiency.
- Adaptable & Agile: In a fast-paced, ever-evolving startup environment, you quickly adapt to changing priorities and requirements. You approach challenges with a calm, resilient mindset, and know how to pivot and adjust your approach as needed, ensuring that progress continues without missing a beat.
- Innovative Mindset: You’re driven by curiosity and a passion for technology. You’re passionate about driving continuous improvement, embracing new technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency, quality, and team performance.
