At REGENT, we’re on a mission to revolutionize regional transportation between coastal cities. We're not just building vehicles, we're creating a new category of transportation: the seaglider. These groundbreaking wing-in-ground-effect craft travel just above the water’s surface, combining the speed of an airplane with the low operating costs of a boat. Capable of 180 miles at 180 mph on today's battery tech (and up to 400 miles with next-gen batteries), seagliders will unlock fast, affordable, and sustainable coastal transit for passengers and cargo - connecting cities, islands, and communities like never before.
Backed by leading investors and powered by a team of passionate, forward-thinking engineers, builders, and operators, we’re now scaling from a breakthrough prototype to full production - and building the team to make it happen.
Role Overview
As a Senior Sensor Fusion Engineer, you’ll design the perception backbone that enables our seagliders to safely and intelligently operate across sea and sky. By developing advanced fusion logic, data association, and track-level integration across diverse sensor modalities, you’ll deliver the real-time situational awareness these vehicles need to transition seamlessly between hull-borne, hydrofoil-borne, and wing-borne modes. Your work will be central to unlocking autonomy in complex, multi-domain environments - pushing the frontier of what’s possible in maritime mobility.
As part of the Software Team, you’ll be joining a group of driven, collaborative, and talented engineers who take pride in solving complex technical challenges and making an impact as a team. We hold a high bar for engineering rigor, move fast, think boldly, and rely on our teamwork to push boundaries and and turn breakthrough ideas into real-world technology.
If you’re energized by working at the intersection of cutting-edge innovation, real-world impact, and hands-on engineering, you’ll be in the right place - and we’d be thrilled to have you on the team!
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Sensor Intelligence at the Core of Autonomy: Design and implement robust, multi-modal fusion algorithms that integrate data from cameras, LiDAR, radar, sonar, IMUs, and novel maritime/aerospace sensors - delivering unified, reliable perception to enable safe, scalable autonomy.
- Architect for the Air–Sea Frontier: Develop and integrate robust fusion logic - including data association and multi-object tracking - to support autonomy and navigation across hull-borne, hydrofoil-borne, and wing-borne modes.
- Validate in Simulation, Prove in the Field: Create high-fidelity simulation tools and leverage real-world datasets to evaluate performance, then take it to the water - driving fusion refinement through rapid prototyping and live-sea trials.
- Engineer Sensor Systems that Stay in Sync: Lead calibration, synchronization, and validation of sensor modalities to ensure accurate, reliable perception in dynamic, high-stakes environments.
- Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work side-by-side with autonomy, controls, perception, and hardware teams to define system-level interfaces and integration strategies that scale from prototype to production.
- Lead with Impact: Mentor earlier-career engineers, contribute to technical direction and code quality, and help shape the sensor fusion roadmap that will drive the future of our vehicle intelligence.
Requirements
- Deep passion for autonomy and sensor fusion in complex, multi-domain environments, backed by 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and deploying sensor fusion algorithms in robotics, aerospace, or autonomous vehicle applications
- Strong technical foundation and practical experience in electrical engineering, computer science, robotics, aerospace engineering, or related fields
- Deep expertise in C++, Python, and real-time systems; strong background in Kalman filtering, Bayesian inference, data association, and multi-object tracking
- Proven experience integrating and optimizing data from cameras, LiDAR, radar, sonar, IMUs, and other sensors in safety-critical systems
- Track record of driving projects from concept through deployment, including simulation, field validation, and production
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with sensor fusion in both maritime and aerospace environments
- Familiarity with safety-critical software development (e.g., DO-178C)
- Proficiency in ROS, MATLAB, or similar simulation and data analysis tools
- Background in system verification, validation, and certification for autonomous vehicles
- Field experience with flight or sea trials
