Posting Summary

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at Rutgers University invites applications for a non-tenure-track professor of practice position in the area of Mechanical Engineering. Applications of all levels will be considered, including Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor ranks. Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are highly encouraged to apply: Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering Design, Design Optimization, Operations Engineering, Systems Engineering, Automation Engineering, and Project Engineering.

The successful candidate is expected to have rich experience in industrial applications especially in those areas listed above, while having a demonstrated track record in building industrial relations, and is fully capable of teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. The candidate is also expected to further the current senior design program, MAE outreach activities, and develop and maintain industrial partnerships. Other responsibilities include advising undergraduate/graduate students and supervising student projects, activities, and organizations. A graduate degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering (Master or PhD), or a related field is welcome, but a long career with industrial experience is strongly recommended and highly desired

Our Department has more than 40 full-time faculty with roughly 1000 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. Certifications/Licenses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Duties are primarily teaching typically three courses per semester. Other duties may include coordinating and maintaining course related laboratory equipment, mentoring undergraduate students, linking with local K-12 schools for student recruitment, interacting with local industry, sharing administration responsibilities as well as other duties assigned by the Chairpersons.
