We are looking for a driven Manufacturing Design Engineer Intern to support our autonomous welding systems team. This role will focus on working directly with customers to translate and adapt their CAD models into formats compatible with our proprietary systems. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who enjoys thinking creatively and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Ideal candidates will be able to work throughout the summer and into the fall semester.

What You’ll Do

  • Interface with customers to receive, interpret, and transfer CAD models into Path’s system.
  • Modify or clean up CAD files as needed to align with autonomous weld planning.
  • Collaborate with engineering and software teams to troubleshoot model-related integration issues.
  • Develop and prototype fixturing concepts or part setups to enable automated welding.
  • Identify and implement creative design solutions to improve manufacturability and system performance.
  • Document processes and lessons learned for knowledge sharing and system improvement.

Who You Are

  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a bias toward action and creative problem-solving.
  • Previous internship or project experience in manufacturing or design is a plus.
