PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

SAP is the industry leader in enterprise applications, analytics, mobility and cloud. Our department is responsible for delivering state of the art Web frameworks and services for the User Interfaces of the SAP applications and S/4HANA FIORI technology stack. Our main focus is SAPUI5, a highly scalable, cross-browser JavaScript Framework. SAPUI5 incorporates a rich set of Web controls based on HTML 5, which are used to create the UIs of Business Applications designed for desktop, tablets or mobile devices. SAPUI5 is available for the developer community as OpenUI5.

We are looking for Intern to strengthen the SAPUI5 Cloud Service development - SAP BTP CloudFoundry service delivering the SAPUI5 Framework versions consumed by the SAP products S/4HANA Cloud , SuccessFactors, SAP Analytics Cloud in this list and many more.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

After an initial onboarding and training phase, you will:

• Join a cross-functional, agile development team distributed across multiple locations
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the SAPUI5 Cloud Service
• Use Object-Oriented JavaScript and TypeScript to implement scalable and maintainable service components
• Develop and maintain Node.js/Express.js-based backend services
• Manage dependencies and build processes using npm and ES module import/export practices
• Handle asynchronous operations effectively using modern JavaScript patterns
• Implement unit and integration tests using Jest, applying mocking and stubbing techniques
• Work with HTTP protocol standards, including request/response structure, headers, methods, and status codes
• Ensure code quality, performance, and security in a production-grade cloud environment
• Follow agile software engineering practices and participate in team rituals

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION / SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts
• Proficiency in JavaScript, with a willingness to learn and work with TypeScript
• Familiarity with Node.js and Express.js for backend development
• Understanding of asynchronous programming in JavaScript (Promises, async/await)
• Basic knowledge of HTTP protocols, request/response flow, headers, methods, and status codes
• Comfortable with npm for dependency and package management
• Willingness to work in a Linux-based cloud environment following agile methodologies
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Eagerness to learn, contribute, and collaborate in a dynamic team setting

WORK EXPERIENCE

• Practical coursework or academic projects involving:
  • JavaScript or TypeScript development
  • Node.js or Express.js based applications
  • Writing and running tests with Jest, including usage of mocks and stubs
• Experience with Git-based version control systems (preferred)
• Any contributions to open-source or personal projects demonstrating web or backend development (advantageous)
• Previous internship or part-time work in software development (a plus but not required)
