SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Performs routine and complex technical work such as the design, manufacture and operation of structures, machines and systems under broad supervision and guidelines.

The candidate will work within the Merit Medical Coatings engineering support team. And will be working with stakeholders/ other departments: quality and production and their engineering projects and related activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Continually assess and review manufacturing issues /practises, and strive for improvement by analysing, developing and implementing solutions that are following Merit Medical, FDA, MDR and other regulatory requirements.
  • Attend daily morning operations meeting (when applicable) and represent the engineering team.
  • Create and organise process tests, (individual or group)
  • Organise the eg. process modifications based on (statistically) proven data
  • Demonstrate planning capabilities, organising and providing direction to line operators and other support staff employees if required.
  • Ability to follow a problem-solving methodology while clearly rationalising and documenting the process, related to critical decisions
  • Works independently/ as collaboration with stakeholders
  • May supervise the work of technicians/operators or others who assist in specific assignments and collaborate with other engineers.
  • Create / review work instructions and training of co-workers, ensuring correct application of scientific principles.
  • Using systems (PLC) to monitor and improve production performance
  • Create/ review technical specifications, with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Using Minitab and other statistical tools to analyse data

Qualification/Experiences:

  • Minimal HBO/ bachelor’s degree in (process) engineering, (e.g. mechatronics - or mechanical or physics engineering).
  • Fluency in English essential. (written/ verbal)
  • Accurate, precise
  • Hands-on / pragmatically way of working
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills and the (future) ability to lead and motivate various teams.
  • Demonstrated experience applying Lean tools / Six Sigma techniques to improve business processes & performance with good working knowledge of applying 5S and TPM programs.
  • Office related programs
  • Minitab
  • Basic knowledge of electronics.
  • Basic knowledge of material science or polymer chemistry is a pre.
  • An advantage: Knowledge of Medical Device quality & regulatory systems and medical device directives
  • An advantage: Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • An advantage: 2D-3D cad (Autocad- Solid works)
  • An advantage: PLC knowledge. (Siemens)
