What you Will Do:

Pratt & Whitney Engine Design & Systems Integration (EDSI) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military, commercial and industrial gas turbine engines.

The EDSI organization is responsible for the integration of components, modules and sub-systems into world class commercial and military propulsion systems. This includes engine performance, operability, system level modeling and simulation, validation and verification of performance and operability requirements, and functional engine and air vehicle systems integration. EDSI also defines engine architecture, system and structural design as well as manages all requirements across the program.

This posting is for a Propulsion System Analysis (PSA) Engineer in the EDSI organization supporting Special Technology Programs (STP). The EDSI PSA role supports the Special Technology Programs (STP) EDSIT and SIPT. This position is highly inter-disciplinary and collaborative, requiring excellent communication skills.

  • Perform technical tasks related to performance / modeling / operability.
  • Execute analysis to determine component and engine performance/operability characteristics relative to expectations and requirements
  • Perform trade studies on hardware and software changes to achieve performance & operability requirements.
  • Work with CIPTs and EDSIT to quantify impacts of proposed design changes and make recommendations arriving at an optimal system solution.
  • Contribute, maintain, and update the engine aero-thermo model (NPSS), review and support internal and external conventional model releases.
  • Support and contribute to relevant integration (IPT, SSIPT, EDSIT, & SIPT) meetings.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering or related field and 2+ year(s) of experience or an Advanced Degree.
  • Knowledge of engine performance, cycle analysis, engine matching, and test analysis integration.
  • Expertise with Unigraph and NPSS.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Active US Government security clearance
  • 10% Travel

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Master’s Degree in an Engineering field.
  • Knowledge of control logic and control schedules generation.
  • Knowledge of engine operability and transient engine analysis,
  • Knowledge of component aerodynamics, air systems, heat transfer & secondary flow, or other SA or AeroThermalFluid disciplines.
  • A track record of delivering timely results in a cross-functional team environment.
  • The desire & ability to work across ESW swim lanes.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
