About The Role

This role builds brand awareness and influence for G2, helping to position the company as the most trusted data source in the age of AI for informing software buying decisions and go-to-market strategies.

As part of the Brand + Comms team of the Marketing department, this role will report to the Sr. Director of Content & Communications and will have two direct reports: the Content & Comms Manager and Sr. Social & Comms Specialist. This is a highly cross-functional role requiring close partnership with our marketing, research, sales, employee success, product, and executive leadership teams.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Team Leadership & Management (30%)
    • Provide strategic counsel and reviews for team members to ensure on-message and compelling content via owned channels (organic social media, news announcements, blogs) that drive engagement, reach, and increased visibility among key audiences.
    • Empower team members with consistent feedback that supports their career paths and growth
    • Collaborate with PR agency and provide management support.
    • Oversee comms measurement, including impact of PR, organic social media, and other relevant metrics.
  • Strategic Communications Planning & Development (25%)
    • Develop communications plans and strategies with tactics to level up to broader Brand Marketing & Comms, as well as Marketing team goals.
    • Recommend new approaches and ideas to take G2’s comms to the next level – new content types, tactics, channels, or other ways to elevate the brand’s voice for greater impact.
    • Recommend communications support for G2 launches and initiatives - including press, owned content, social media activations.
    • Support employer brand through culture-focused communications initiatives.
  • Content & Messaging (20%)
    • Oversee maintenance of news and social calendars, ensuring a consistent stream of content for G2’s newsroom, organic social channels, press release distribution, as well as executive thought leadership content.
    • Lead executive thought leadership approach with intake calls with spokespeople, mapping to individual talk tracks that result in external awareness on third-party or owned channels (press, blog, social, etc.).
    • Create & refresh company-wide materials relating to external Comms - e.g., best practices, company messaging and positioning, etc.
  • Media & Public Relations (20%)
    • Engage with industry press and influencers for earned and paid media opportunities.
    • Drive earned speaking and awards programs with upkeep of calendars and development of winning submissions.
    • Liaise with G2 spokespeople to prep them for media briefings and opportunities, including briefing documents, prep calls, and commentary development.
    • Align with internal stakeholders to develop executive presentations for speaking opportunities.
    • Keep apprised of breaking news and industry trends for social, media, and content opportunities.
  • Internal Communications & Issues Management (5%)
    • Execute internal comms for key initiatives — informing G2’s global team or specific teams of launches, news coverage, etc., including providing direction for effective sales enablement.
    • Rally G2ers around comms initiatives, getting them excited to be brand ambassadors and help spread key messages
    • Partner with G2’s Employee Success team on Issues Response for internal and/or external statements to be made regarding societal news/issues
    • Provide support for any other major internal comms as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must-haves

  • Experience working with media/influencers
  • Experience working with B2B tech, software, and/or marketing & sales audiences
  • 8+ years of experience working in PR/communications (agency or in-house)
  • 3+ years of people management experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Proven performer who has delivered an outsized impact on a company and its reputation
  • Exceptional writer and editor who can quickly pull out headlines from information and data that are clear, compelling, insightful, and actionable
  • Experience using AI tools to optimize content, research, and workflows
  • Familiarity and interest in using LinkedIn and video as communications channels
  • An entrepreneurial mindset
